#4. “The Horse Head Girl”

Originally titled The Goose Girl, which is another weird grim tale about a princess and a maid whom was traveling in the woods with their favorite horse. So, to what started as a way to protect the princess from bandits on the way to a distance kingdom to be married ended up in a case of mistaken identity in which the maid switched places with the princess. And to hide her identity she killed her favorite horse and made her lived as a humble servant girl in the woods, someone who looks after the geese. Afterwards the girl takes the head of her horse and begins talking to it and later finds out she has the power to control the wind and storms.

And like that story this was inspired by the recent season of “Teen Wolf”, and the Berserker enemies. In this case the princes made bone armor out of her horse’s remains and a weapon from his jawbone. Now she lives a beast of the forest feral and powerful and able to cause storms, until the day that people recognize that she was once the sweetest princess. It’s a very “Lord of the Flies” sort of development, although leather diapers would probably not be as good as protected as any other kind of covering. Bones tell an interesting story and also an interesting costume.

The background with storm clouds got a little experimental and complicated but in the end I liked the way it came out, very dark and moody.
